Surreal...

I have been obsessing on these Hanoi Rocks live videos from 1985. I had always known that they tried to continue on after Razzle’s death, with Terry Chimes (The Clash) on drums, but I had never seen any footage. In fact I wasn’t even sure that they had played live with that line-up. Well… they did.

Ever since I was a kid, I can remember trying to defend Hanoi Rocks’ honor by attempting to educate my fellow music lovers about the difference between this band and the late 80’s onslaught of what are most commonly referred to as hair metal bands. It would’ve helped to have YouTube back in those days. But alas, I’ve gotten lazy in my later years and all I can muster now is to say, if you can’t make a clear distinction between this band and say, Trixter? You actually might be stupid.

Back in my day, Coachella was...

…blah blah blah!

Is there anything more tired than some 40+ person going on about the good ole days of Coachella? Don’t get me wrong, I miss the days when the laptop to Les Paul ratio favored the latter, but I also miss when The Lakers were a functioning organization with hope and promise. All this being said, I am not above reminiscing about the older (“better”) days of Coachella and music in general. But I have learned to bite my tongue so I don’t sound like a total cliche. Times change… thank god!

Hey Gibson, ummmmm....

...NO!

It's not surprising that the iconic guitar company is in hot water when you look at things like this.  $4k for this PRS/Peavy looking thing?  Come on.  People don't go to In-N-Out Burger for a Spicy Cheetos Encrusted Taco.  Nor will they go to Gibson and throw down 4 large for what ever that thing pictured above is. Gibson has some serious soul searching to do.  In the meantime have a look at Rock N Roll Relics.  We promise you won't see any Southwestern Chipotle Hotdogs.

Rock n Roll isn't dead but guitar might be.

Like most people, the first time I heard this band I couldn't wrap my head around the fact that there was no guitar player.  At this point I've seen them in videos, on tv shows, and live for that matter and I still trip out on the absence of guitar.  It's just weird that every (and I mean EVERY) rock n roll itch can be scratched without the instrument that defined rock to me for so long.  All this being said, I don't care what instrument is doing what if someone is making music like this.  Rock n Roll for ever!!

Cheers Royal Blood!!
